I'm not even sure what happened. The "Start AOL Dialer" option simply wasn't there.

This was at 4pm, some hours ago. After much pain and trying lots of things (system restores, reinstalls, searching the hard drives, a LOT of restarting the computer), finally got everything working again about ten, fifteen minutes ago. Only remaining annoyance is that AOL Uninstaller won't let me re-uninstall AOL 9.0 VR.

XP

Installed XP Service Pack 3 and tried to install Japanese Encoding. The good news is that my computer had stopped asking me for the CD for Service Pack 2... the bad news is that it got halfway through and then asked me for the CD for "Windows XP Home Edition". Which, naturally, I don't have the CD for either. And at least one site I've been to has said that without the CD, the Encoding cannot be installed, which is bloody aggravating.

the really annoying part is that a few days ago, IE7 did understand Japanese characters... for about a day, before this new-found ability vanished as mysteriously as it appeared. I have no idea how it did that or how to replicate the effect. Aarrgh.

EDIT: Incedentially, yes I've been to see Iron Man (last Saturday, actually) and yes, it is very awesome.

I've managed to pretty much drain my bank account over the last few weeks. Sounds like he's going to be ok, though.

On a happier note, [lj-user=karnimani1990] revealed on Serebii.net that in an upcoming Japanese episode of Pokemon, a Spiritomb attacks Ash because it mistakes him for the Aura Guardian that sealed it long ago...

I have never been closer to Squeeing in my life.

If said Aura Guardian turns out, as I suspect, to be Aaron, then 1) Movie 8 becomes series canon and 2) Bubapedia might as well start writing the "Ash's Riolu" page now.

Wonder if Gen/Reily will have a Pikachu?

So in just over a week and a half, I'll be able to do some spending.

Meanwhile, got bored training with Riley, so got the Riolu egg off him and went to go beat up Volkner. Tried to do it with just Koli (my Luxray), but even with a LOT of Moo Moo milk I was a few levels behind everyone, which put me on the back foot a bit. Fortunatly being a Stage-2 does wonders against a bunch of Basics and Stage-1's, evening the field somewhat. Ended up using Mukky (my Starraptor) to finish of a Raichu (which kept using Dig) by using Fly; Hiko (my Infernape) took care of a random Steelix and Volkners Ambipom, the latter mostly for kicks.

...cash. Once I've got the computer Shadow Ranger is sending me up and running, I'll talk with Pam about getting a PayPal account. If I get enough money together, then I'll have something to set aside for the next time I need a new computer. Either that or I'll jump on HLJ and blow it on Japanese music. I haven't decided. :P

Meanwhile, lack of laptop has allowed me to continue with Pokemon Pearl, yesterday ripping through Crasher Wake, Fat Tina (sorry, Fantina) and Byron in quick succession. And yes, there was some reverting to save game involved, though in Crasher's case this was because I wanted to beat him with only my Luxior (which became a Luxray in the process). Fantina is TOUGH, because of both Confuse Ray and Psybeam. Lol at the woman who brought an Azumarril into a Steel Gym. Talk about out-of-place. And how do you say hello to Byron's Steelix? With a Fire Blast to the face (Bastidon was tougher, but Multiple Brick Breaks and an Ether sorted him. Helps that he put himself to sleep, even if it was with Rest). And All that just to get into Lake Valour. Oy.
